One way of keeping up with things is to go to the site frequently and check all your areas of interest for changes and new postings. Frankly, that's time-consuming and the site doesn't change all that quickly. Here's a trick that will tell you when your favorite list (or lists) are changed:
1. Go to the list you want to monitor, for example, Announcements, which happens to be on the main page.
2. Click on the name of the list (Announcemnts). You will be taken to the page that lists all of the entries in that list.
3. On the left-hand side of the page, in the light blue area, you will see the heading "Actions." Under that, you will see "Alert Me". Click on "Alert Me" and you will be taken to yet another page.
4. This new page contains the list of options for your alert. Note that you can have them sent to a different email address than your standard one. You can choose how often you want to see the alerts, and whether or not to notify you for changes as well as new postings.
5. Once you have chosen you options, simply click on "OK" at the bottom of the page. You will now begin receiving the alerts you requested.
Note that the alerts don't contains the whole message. It's just a way to tell you to go check the site. Also, you have to set the alert for every list you want to monitor. My recommendation: Monitor the Announcements and Discussion lists. |
